Elfi sponsors squasher Elfi Markus

Over the next three years, Elfi will be the personal sponsor of 18-year-old professional squasher Elfi Markus. Not only do we share the same name, but also the ambition to strive for the top. Elfi is one of Amsterdam's greatest squash talents and has dreamt of reaching the absolute top since a young age.

She started playing squash at the age of ten, and by the time she was twelve, she had already become the Dutch Champion in her age category. It was a big shock when, at the age of thirteen, she suffered a hernia and had to undergo surgery, with the news that she would never be able to play sports again. A challenging time ensued for Elfi. However, a doctor at Gelderse Vallei hospital told her, "Your back can handle it if you're willing to train hard." This glimmer of hope was what she held onto in order to still reach the top. 

Elfi underwent multiple surgeries, went through rehabilitation again, trained hard, and subsequently played successful tournaments. We greatly admire her incredible determination. Currently, Elfi is training hard for several tournaments she will be playing on behalf of the World Squash Federation. She hopes to become a fully-fledged top 10 player within a few years. We wish Elfi the best of luck in achieving her dreams.
